Hey, I’m Mo Joy, a queer tattoo artist currently based in Sacramento, California. My work blends neo-traditional tattooing with gothic ornamentation, folk art, botanical imagery, dark romantic aesthetics, and moments of softness, surrealism, and vibrant color. With over 30 years immersed in tattoo culture as both a collector and artist, I bring a deep respect for the history, craftsmanship, and longevity of tattooing into every piece I create.

My background in fashion design, photography, and graphic design heavily influences the way I approach tattooing, with a strong focus on composition, movement, and how my art flows naturally with the body. I’m passionate about creating tattoos that feel personal, emotionally resonant, and designed to age beautifully over time, while providing a safe and affirming experience for womxn, queer, neurodivergent, and marginalized clients. Whether creating custom work or repeatable designs, my goal is always the same; to make art that helps people feel more connected to their stories and more at home in their bodies.
